What is the Kickstart scheme?
WHAT IS THE KICKSTART SCHEME?
The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work placements for young people. It was announced on the 8th July after the Chancellor announced the Kickstart Scheme as part of the Plan for Jobs.
THE BASICS
Funding available for each job will cover the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions. There will also be funding available to support young people to develop new skills and to help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded job.
IF YOU CAN OFFER NEW, 6 MONTH PLACEMENTS TO YOUNG PEOPLE, THE GOVERNMENT WILL FULLY FUND THE POSITION.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
APPLY USING OUR GATE WAY
Fill out the application form. It takes less than five minutes to complete, we just need a few details about your business and the type of roles you’re planning to offer.

GET A DECISION
The DWP will check your roles are compliant, and we’ll let you know once funding has been granted. This process usually takes 4-6 weeks, but we’ll keep you updated while you wait.

HIRE CANDIDATE
Interview and choose from a talented pool of applicants put forward by the Job Centre. After you hire, funding instalments that will be paid out monthly in arrears.
